Darlene Hughes, FNP  Longmont Family Practice Darlene Hughes, FNP

So I am a native of Longmont, Co. as was my Mom.  Many of you may know of “Champion Greens” just west of town on 9th Ave & next to Twin Peaks Golf Course.  That development was named after my folks.

I didn’t know I wanted to be a nurse until about 1970, and it has always seemed like I was “called” to pick up a stethoscope. I graduated from Front Range Community College in their first 2 year nursing class in 1972. I worked at Lutheran Medical Center in Denver until moving back to Longmont.  Once here, I worked at Longmont United Hospital for 20 years.  Most of those years were in the Emergency Department & I felt another “nudge” to return to school to become a Nurse Practitioner.  I graduated with my Masters in Nursing and became a licensed FNP in 2000.  I worked in Lyons with Dr. Rakotz, moved to Littleton to a family practice there, transferred to CU at Boulder to their student health clinic, & returned to work in Longmont with Dr. Mike McKenna who retired & closed his office in 2017.  Still not quite ready to throw in my stethoscope, I came to work for Dr. Hinman’s office in Sept. 2018.  Here I’ll stay.  So happy to be here.
